Supported Formats

StatementParse accepts the following file types. You can upload up to 12 files per session on the Pro and Practice plans.

PDF
Digital and scanned bank statement PDFs
Multi-page, password-protected supported
CSV
Comma-separated value exports from online banking
Bank-specific column detection
OFX
Open Financial Exchange format
Used by most US banks
QIF
Quicken Interchange Format
Legacy format, fully supported

Scanned PDFs: Image-based statements are processed using visual grid analysis. Ambiguous characters are flagged for manual review before export.

The 7-Stage Pipeline

Every file runs through all seven stages automatically. You can watch them execute in real time on the Dashboard.

1
Triage & Routing
Detects file type, PDF quality (Q1–Q5), and whether content is digital or scanned. Routes to the correct extraction strategy.
2
Data Extraction
Extracts raw rows using bank-specific parsing rules from 50+ institutions. Handles multi-column layouts, CR/DR suffixes, and section-based formats.
3
Normalisation
Standardises dates (ISO 8601), amounts (decimal, no currency symbols), and description fields across all bank formats.
4
Pending Filter
Removes pending, provisional, and duplicate transactions that have not yet settled. Prevents import of non-final rows.
5
Reconciliation
Verifies opening balance → transactions → closing balance page-by-page. Flags any pages where the maths doesn't balance.
6
Quality Validation
5-point QA check: completeness, sign consistency, date ordering, duplicate detection, and suspicious outlier flagging.
7
Format & Export
Restructures the cleaned dataset into the exact column order, date format, and sign convention required by your selected accounting platform.

Export Platforms

Each platform has its own column structure, date format, and sign convention. StatementParse formats the CSV correctly for each one automatically.
